Our sustainability partner Indosole & Sungai Watch through Sungai Design are cooking something new in their kitchen, and the menu releases on Saturday, 5th September. True to their vibes, Indosole & Sungai Design is still maintaining their main resource; making new things out of old used flip-flop waste . Stemming from the same concern, that 1.5 billion tires are discarded yearly and pollute our land, water, and communities, Indosole saw opportunities where others saw hopeless conditions.
This time, Indosole is bringing to you a mat made from flip-flop waste –a unique item to accompany your picnic, yoga, pilates, or workout session, and so many other things. The message is clear –wouldn’t it be perfect to have your daily things remind you of the kindness of our planet? The highlight is shared between Indosole and Sungai Watch. Throughout its journey, Sungai Watch has collected various types of trash from bodies of waters in East Java and Bali Island, including hundreds of flip-flops to then be recycled as their brand new product –Rivermat.
The official launch of Rivermat —the world’s first utility mat reimagined from flip-flops collected from Indonesia’s rivers— was held on Saturday in Pererenan, Bali. Introducing four colors that represent the natural element surrounding us: sunrise strength (red), root & rise (green), earth resonance (brown), and lunar flow (black), Rivermat has successfully demonstrated new potential through a collaborative effort.
Coinciding with Indosole’s 17th anniversary, the Rivermat Launch Event also featured engaging discussion sessions on two themes: Happy People and Healthy Planet, connecting people with wellness experts, green business pioneers, and so many more.
